PART 35 – THE WEDDING_4

-Hou Lei, you look very beautiful. – The Queen said. – I hope you will have a good life after this wedding, the preparation was done. I will lead you to the ceremony as there is no family member of you here with us to do that.

-Thank you, my Queen! – She said.

-Queen? I don’t like to hear that!

-Oh, thank you, mother. – She corrected.

-That’s my girl, let’s go.

They got out of the room, where the wedding palankeen waiting for them. The sentries helped Hou Lei to get in the palankeen. She was a little bit excited about this, due to this is the first time she got married, especially with a Prince. The escort of the bride slowly walked on the big road leading to the main palace where the Third Prince, the Emperor, and the bureaucrats were waiting. Tian Liam could not hide his excitement. He stood there with rapid heart pulse, he was too happy to wait for his bride. He finally saw the escort passing through the main door.

The escort slowly stopped in front of the stair. The sentry helped Hou Lei to get out of the palankeen. Her face was covered by a red fabric, the Queen held her hand and helped her to step forward to the main ceremony place. Tian Liam could not wait any more, he got down the stair and met them at the middle of the stair. The Queen smiled and gave Hou Lei’s hand to him. He continued to step forward with her until they were on the big yard in front of the main building. The Emperor was sitting on his royal chair, the Queen came to join with him at her chair.

The master of the ceremony started his work.

“As the agreement of the Emperor and the Queen, we’re here to witness the wedding between the Third Prince of Main Land and the Princess of West Land. Let’s pray the best for them, for a happily ever after life after this wedding and for the connection between the two countries. The ceremony is now started. The Prince and The Princess please get your well prepared.

First kowtow, to the sky and the ground!

Second kowtow, to the Emperor and the Queen!

Third kowtow, to the husband and the wife!

The ceremony is done. The husband and the wife give each other a cup of wine!

All of our guesses, please have a little wine to praise the happiness of our couple today.”

The Crown Prince and Liu Han sat on their chairs on the ceremony yard, they laughed when watching Hou Lei and Tian Liam drinking the poisoned wine. They thought their plan jogging on very well and they could corrupt the wedding. But there was nothing happened. They looked at each other and did not know what happened with their poison. They looked to the opposite place of them and saw Miang Xiang. She winked to them and laughed with satisfied. Miang Xiang even raised a hand to wave as a hello to the Crown Prince and Liu Han. The angry was now expressed clearly on their face, Liu Han stood up and prepared to go, but Tian Leong held her hand and made her sit back.

-Don’t leave now, or you want to get punishment from the Emperor. – The Crown Prince said to Liu Han. That lady must do something!

-I think so. – She said. – The poison is very strong as people said.

-So what’s now? The wedding is done, we can’t do anything more.

-We can still make them separated, My Crown Prince. Nothing’s too late.

-But how? I don’t think it’s easy when my Father and my Mother encourage this wedding.

-We will find a way, I believe.

Tian Liam and Hou Lei then brought the cups of wine to offer the Emperor and the Queen.

-Best wishes to you two, be a happy family! – The Queen said.

After the ceremony, Tian Liam stayed to treat the guesses, as he promised with Hou Lei, he did not drink much and used tea instead of wine to drink. The Queen looked at him and knew that Hou Lei had to tell him to do that. She smiled and continued with the Emperor talking to the guesses. Later the evening, the last guess left. Tian Liam took a deep breath and said goodbye to his parents before going back to his room. As he requested, the Queen accepted to let Hou Lei still stayed at her room and Tian Liam would go to meet her each time he wanted.

Tian Liam was very happy, he opened the door and walked in her room, gently touched the things prepared for them on the table: a pot of wine, some small cakes, and the husband and wife’s cups. Hou Lei was sitting inside her bed, in front of her was a red curtain with many colorful textures. He came closer and planned to open the curtain to meet her but he saw the wedding conditions paper was attached to it. He stopped and stepped backward.

-Hou Lei, could you please let me see your face on our wedding date?

-No. – She answered. – You signed the paper, you want to break your own words?

-Of course not. – He said and whispered to himself. – It’s your word, not mine.

-What did you say? – She asked.

-Oh, nothing. However, it said we wouldn’t do husband and wife’s work. It didn’t mention about I couldn’t see my bride’s face.

-Whatever! Don’t come here, I’ll go there.

She slowly walked out of the curtain. He looked at her gently and lightly touched her red fabric. He raised it up and saw her beautiful face. He could not subdue his passion for her, he kissed on her cheek immediately. And… “Chattttt!!!”. She slapped him rapidly.

-You don’t want to see me again?

-Oh, sorry, you’re so beautiful that I…

-I shouldn’t go out here. Get out!

-Hou Lei, I’m so sorry!

-Your Main Land men are all the same! Liar! I said, get out!

-Okay, Okay, don’t be angry. I’ll go out now.

He reached the door and turned back to tell her.

-However, Hou Lei, your skin is so soft and your angry face is very cute!

-How dare you to tell me that! – She raised her hand up. – Want to have one more slap?

-Oh, no, I’ll leave now, my cute wife! – He laughed.

He left with a funny face, she glanced at him. He walked out and closed the door. He touched his cheek, the fourth slap, but it made him more excited about her than getting angry with her. He smiled and came back to his place. One maid of the Queen saw Tian Liam left Hou Lei’s room, she rapidly ran to the Queen’s place and informed her.

-My Queen! – The maid said. – I have an important thing to tell you!

-What’s the news? – The Queen put down her book.

-I saw the Third Prince has just left the Princess’ room. I think they don’t make it on the wedding night!

-Well, don’t tell anyone about this. – The Queen said. – Or you should watch out your head!

-I know that, My Queen! I’ve been serving you for more than 15 years. I know what I should say and what I shouldn’t.
