PART 23 – THE MYSTERY OF TIAN LIAM

Hou Lei was very worried about him, although it was just a small wound. She wanted to use her knowledge about medicines and used some herbs in the kitchen to help him, but she did not want to take more attraction. She smelled the blood of Tian Liam, and recognized the strange, his blood contained much power than other people. She looked more careful on his bleeding wound, it did not look alike any wound she met before. He seemed to have some special power, too, she thought. The doctor of the royal family came, he helped Tian Liam bandage. Tian Liam’s eyes still could not get away of Hou Lei. She realized that and prepared to go, but she thought she should stay, he got hurt because of her. After the doctor had gone, Hou Lei and Tian Liam came back to her room.

-I think my brother meant to do that. He knew you were in the kitchen and came there. But I was his hindrance. – Tian Liam said.

-Are you okay? – She asked. – Even though what happens, he’s still your brother. Don’t get angry with him like that!

-I know, but I don’t think he will leave you alone. He thinks that he loves you much, and he wants to possess you, as a victory award.

-I won’t let that happen. – She comforted him.

-What did you say? – He paused. – “won’t let that happen”? So you mean you won’t try to marry the Crown Prince anymore?

-It’s not your business. – She saw his sparkly eyes.

-Hou Lei, I know that there will be a day, you accept me.

-Don’t be happy like that, I don’t mention that I will marry you! Okay?

-Don’t deny it, I promise to be a good husband.

-I don’t promise anything and don’t believe in anyone’s promises. They are just the words, I need to see the works done.

-I will prove it to you.

He came closer and hugged her. She suddenly felt the warmness as she had used to feel in the small town they first met near the West Land. She just felt peaceful with his hug and did not want to think about anything or anyone. Unsparingly, she pushed him away.

-Don’t be too intimate like that. Or your soulmate will do some bad things to me!

-I won’t let her do that. One day, she will realize what relationship between her and me. It’s not love, but with you, it’s my first love!

-First love? – She laughed. – How can I believe that, Tian Liam?

-Well, it’s up to you, but this is the first time I have much emotional in a lady like that. I haven’t many feelings for a woman, except my mother.

-Okay, my little Prince, loving me is not easy work, you’re sure you can do that? Or you will give up very early? You’ve known I’m not a nice and weak Princess as others you used to know.

-Of course, I know and that makes you so different, like a mysterious treasure for every man meets you wanting to explore.

-Sorry, but I don’t eat much sugar, don’t put too much honey into your words, it does not look like the Third Prince I’ve known. It also makes me feel not comfortable.

-I don’t lie, it’s the truth, about your special characteristics, maybe my brother doesn’t meet the Hou Lei I used to meet at the small town near West Land, the Hou Lei used to slap me loudly and the Hou Lei used to hug me so hard to avoid the soldiers.

-This is not a memorable ceremony. Don’t retell me them, it’s too ashamed.

-Okay, I don’t remind you more.

They both laughed and then stopped, just looking at each other. He just did not know he fell in love with her from the very first time they met. And her, she thought about she could believe in him or not. She still remembered her father’s words and the first time she trapped in Ziam Jun’s plan.

-I think I should come back to my place! – He stood up, corrupted the silence. – See you tomorrow.

Some days later, Hou Lei felt bored, she asked the Queen to accept her go out of the palace for fresh air. The Queen accepted but asked Tian Liam to go with her, unfortunately, he was busy with some works in the government with the Soldier General. There were only Hou Lei and Ah Jiang going out of the Palace with some soldiers. Liu Han knew that she asked her sentries to follow them.

They reached a beautiful lake. Ah Jiang wanted to go with Hou Lei, but she said she would go alone. The soldiers waited for her on the bank. The ferryman got Hou Lei on his skiff. They came around the lake, she thought about many things, her father, her tribe, her mother and Tian Liam, also. The sentries of Liu Han got there, silently made all the soldiers and Ah Jiang into a faint. They used darts to attack Hou Lei. She saw the darts and made a round of protection, the ferryman was hurt by the dart, the skiff lost its balance. Hou Lei fell down to the water.

She dove deeper into the water to make the sentries think that she died. A few moments later, the sentries left the lake. She dived deeper and deeper, she sensed a source of power from the bottom of the lake. She got there and saw a kind of old vase. She tried to take the vase out of the mud and floated up to the surface of the water.

Tian Liam got to the lake and saw all the soldiers were in faint. He was worried about Hou Lei, looked for her around the lake. She got onto the opposite side bank of the lake. She brought the vase back to the palace without knowing Tian Liam was finding her. On the way, she was all wet and the weather was hot with bright sunlight. She felt tired and fell down on the ground. Her vision got blur and she saw someone getting closer to her and held her by his hands. Then everything went black.

A half day later, Tian Liam was sitting beside her bed. He worried because she got a fever. He used a wet towel to clean her face and her hands. He touched the green gem and felt it very strange. He looked closer to it. Then Hou Lei talked something, but her voice was very weak. He got his face closer to her to hear what she said. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and saw his face right in front of her, she raised her hand up and “Chatttt!!!”, the third slap.

-Wow, you’re too strong! – He touched his face and frowned.

-Your bastard! Want to take advance of me? – She yelled.

-I didn’t mean to do that. I just… - He explained.

-Get out! I don’t want to see your face.

-You’re not in good conscious. We’ll talk later. I will ask Ah Jiang to take care of you! - He put the towel down and stood up.

That night Hou Lei suddenly remembered the vase and looked for it. She asked Ah Jiang:

-Ah Jiang, do you know who brought me back here? And do you see any vase coming back with me?

-My Princess, the Third Prince held you from the lake to here, by his own hands. And maybe he asked the soldiers to carry the vase.

-What? Tian Liam brought me here?

-Yes, and he didn’t let anyone touch you except the doctor. He spent almost the afternoon to take care of you, but I think he had something to do, he asked me to take care of you and leave.

-So that’s it, I wrongly blame him.

-My Princess, I see he is in love with you now, why you can’t accept his love? He is a good man, I think, you should give him a chance, anyway, you two will soon-to-be husband and wife.
