PART 108 – THE THOUGHTS OF HOU LEI

Right after sensing as Hou Lei had been back to her room in the palace safely, Lei Hwa returned to her ritual in her room and chanted another spell to collect back the herbs flying around the room. As the herbs did not shine anymore, the assassins on the roads of the royal city disappeared mysteriously. They faded in the walls of the houses in front of Tian Liam and the soldiers’ eyes.

-Did you see what had just happened, my Prince? – A soldier asked Tian Liam.

-Of course, I could see that strange action of the assassins. – He replied.

-What should we do now?

-You lead the other soldiers to find them if they are still in the royal city.

-Yes, My Prince.

-If you meet Mr. Hu, please say to him to meet me in the palace.

-We’ll go first, my Prince!

They left and there were two soldiers with Tian Liam. He came back to the palace and met the Soldier General, Mr. Hu. They got into a room for discussion.

-My Prince, I think that those assassins were sent here by some priests. – Mr. Hu said.

-I think so. – Tian Liam replied. – But how could they just appear and not do anything else?

-Maybe their aim is not stealing something or killing someone.

-Do you mean that they have another reason to be here?

-Yup, My Prince, as they want to make us focus on them and there would be someone else doing his business without our witness.

-That means… Oh, no, Hou Lei…

He immediately stood up and opened the door. He ran out of the room before the General could say anything. The General shook his head and smiled.

“I planned to say that I had asked some soldiers to look after the Princess before we got out of the palace for chasing the assassins.”

Tian Liam ran to Hou Lei’s room and saw some soldiers were watching out around her room. He fetched a sigh and felt calm down. He slowly got closer to the room and looked around before opening the door and got into her room. She was reading a book, she raised her eyes up to look at him and smiled at him. He closed the door lightly and sat down oppositely to her. She put the book down and looked deep into his eyes.

-You’re finding something? – She asked.

-Well, I just want to check if you’re okay. – He replied and poured some tea for himself.

-How about the assassins?

-They disappeared mysteriously. I, Mr. Hu and the soldiers couldn’t find them, just like they hadn’t existed in this life.

-So strange? Do you think about anyone could do that?

-I think that the priests did that, but have no idea for the reason. I have just thought that they wanted to aim into someone or something, not to steal the things in the city or kill someone specifically.

-And you think they wanted to aim at me?

-Yup, like in the party, the priests aimed to make you into something…

-Tian Liam, thank you for your consideration to me!

-What are you talking about? I’m your husband! – He touched her cheek. – How could I not care about my cutie wife?

-Just saying that… - She smiled. – I have something for you, wait here.

She stepped out of the room and walked to the kitchen. After some minutes, she returned with a tray, there were some biscuits on the dish in the tray and two bowls of sweetened soup. She put the tray on the table in front of his eyes. He looked closer to the food with excitement.

-This kind of biscuit… peach-tea biscuits?

-Yup, you remember them? – She smiled.

-I can be confident to say that I can name all the special food you’ve given to me.

-Sure? – She surprised. – In near three years?

-Yup, you can test me if you want!

-Tian Liam, I’m not easily trapped into your plan! – She laughed.

-What’s the plan? I don’t have any plans here!

-You want me to test you, and before I can carry out the test, I must cook something for you, right?

-Well, you’re too smart, you’ve got my tail. – He laughed.

-Okay, you don’t need to do anything, I’ll cook for you if we have time.

-Thank you, you’re the best present the God of Sky gave me. – He looked at her with sparkles in his eyes, then he pointed to the bowl. – What’s this soup?

-This is a kind of sweetened soup. It was cooked from many medical ingredients, so it can help you strengthen your health, especially after you took a lot of energy to chase the assassins.

-Well, both are mine?

-Nope, one bowl for you, one for Mr. Hu. – She brought one bowl out of the tray.

She stood up and brought the bowl with her.

-Where do you want to go? – He wondered.

-Bring this to Mr. Hu! – She replied.

-Do you know where he is now? Why don’t we ask a maid to bring it to him?

-But I think…

-Okay, I’ll ask Ah Jiang to bring it to him, I know where he is now.

He took the bowl from her hand and walked out of the room. He called for Ah Jiang and talked something to her before giving her the bowl. She sat on a chair and looked at him with suspiciousness.

-Finally, have some time privately with you. – He sat back to his place.

-Okay, I know that you can’t live without me. – She laughed and got a cup of tea for him.

-Can I eat them now?

-What are you waiting for? – She wondered.

-You don’t cook the sweetened soup for yourself?

-I don’t need it, I just thought that you and Mr. Hu were working hard for the peace of this palace and the royal city, you two need to foster your health.

-My beloved wife! – He suddenly hugged her tightly. – I don’t know any word to describe you now. You’re not only beautiful, kind and good at many things, but also a very understanding person. You’re sympathy to everyone, including your servants and maids.

-That’s what I should do. – She rubbed his back.
