PART 75 – THE EMPEROR’S BIRTHDAY

-Okay… - Hou Lei gently pushed Tian Liam away. – I think that the maid of your mother has returned to her place. I should come back to the kitchen to finish my works and cook something for you.

-You will wear this dress tomorrow? – He wondered.

-Of course, I can’t make my husband disappointed.

-I will help you with your cooking today, and tomorrow, also!

-The chefs will help me tomorrow, you don’t need to get there, I don’t want to be blamed by your father by forcing you to go to the kitchen with me. That’s not a place for a Prince.

-You know me, right? I don’t care about what people say, if I care, I won’t let you cook in my father’s birthday, the kitchen is not a place for a Princess, too.

-That’s our mother’s request, so…

She walked out of the room. He sat there next to the table and got a book to read. Suddenly, he felt something strange and looked at the table, there was a book, the book he saw some days ago making him fall into a faint. This time, he was more careful, he watched the book from his place. There was nothing happen, he reached his hand to the book. It did not do anything to him, he brought it up and opened the first page. The page was totally empty, a strong wind appeared around him and the book. The wind brought with it some mysterious smells and a black rose fell down on the ground. He caught the rose and looked back, the book faded away making him surprised.

-Why did I feel this book was very familiar? Is it relating to me? And is it a magical book?

He brought the rose with him to walk outside, but when the sunlight touched it, it vanished. The things led Tian Liam to many questions… Why the book appeared in Hou Lei’s room? Why he could open that book but could not see any words in there? Why the black rose formed by the wind creating by the book? Why and why… He sat down next to a big pole in front of Hou Lei’s room and put a hand on his forehead, he had never met something like this before.

-Tian Liam, are you okay? – Hou Lei came back with a tray of food.

-Oh, you made it so long. – He replied.

-So long? I have just left for only near a half of an hour.

-That was too long for me. What you cooked for me today?

-Some normal dishes and a dish for tomorrow, I want you to taste it and give me some comments.

-Okay, I’ll try to taste it well before it is gone. – He laughed.

They walked back into her room. He tasted the special dish made from some vegetables, mushrooms, and beef. He closed his eyes to feel the emotions that Hou Lei put into the dish.

-How does it taste? Is it good?

-Well, I need to eat all the food in the dish to know that!

-No comment, no more food! – She took back the bowl.

-It’s good, very tasty. Please, let me have some more. I can’t wait for tomorrow's party!

The next day, Hou Lei got up very early. She got to the kitchen to cook with the chefs. Tian Liam and the Solider General walked pass the kitchen, he stopped for some minutes to watch her moves with the food. The chefs prepared to greet him buthe gave them a signal to not interrupt her works.

Before the noon, Hou Lei finished her dishes. The chefs looked at what she did, they could not believe in their eyes. The oldest chef smelled her dishes.

-My Princess, I can’t believe that you can make these dishes! – He said. – Some of these are the first time I saw someone mixing the ingredients together.

-How do you feel about them? – She asked.

-While we cooked with you, we tasted some and felt that they were very delicious.

-I don’t know much about the ceremony and the parties in the palace, so I don’t know if these dishes are suitable for the Emperor’s birthday party or not.

-Very very suitable, my Princess! The Emperor normally eats our food, yours will be the new taste and new experience for him and the bureaucrats.

-Thank you, so please help me to keep them warm. I’ll go back to my room to change my clothes, the party time is almost there!

Hou Lei returned her room and saw Tian Liam was waiting for her there.

-You’re here! – He stood up immediately when he saw her. – I’ve asked Ah Jiang to prepare a warm bathtub for you and your dress was set there for you, too.

-Thank you, I can do it my self, so…

-I’m your husband, don’t act as I’m a stranger!

-Okay, my husband, so please, don’t get in there when I was taking the bath.

-I know, I know. – He nodded. – But you need to hurry up, the time is coming near!

-You should change your clothes too.

-I’ll finish before you’ve done you a bath, Ma’am…

She took a hurried bath and changed her clothes, the dress was very beautiful on her. She got the lips paper to rub on her lips. She got the hairpin he presented her and put on her hair. They just fit her very well. She walked out of the backroom to her main room and saw him standing there and looking to the yard. The clothes they were wearing were coupled.

-I finish! We can go now.

-Okay, let’s go. I’ve prepared the gift for the Emperor!

He turned back. He looked very handsome in those clothes making her stop moving for a moment. He walked to her place and held her shoulder.

-Never see your husband in this handsome status? – He smiled.

-Who said that? – She was blushed with embarrassment.

-The red sign on your cheeks said that! – He touched her cheek.

-Let’s go, don’t waste time much, the party is going to occur!

She ran out of her room, he ran after her. He had to be very handsome in her eyes today, he thought and smiled. The bureaucrats got into the large room in the main palace. Hou Lei and Tian Liam got their place next to the table of the Queen. The Queen smiled with them. The Emperor appeared on the higher ground than them and looked at people in the room.

-The Second Prince is coming! – A sentry announced.
