PART 120 – THE STRANGE BEHAVIOR OF TIAN LIAM_3

The Queen stayed with Hou Lei and Tian Liang for having dinner with them. She could see that during the meal, Tian Liang always got his eyesight to Hou Lei. She could also feel that the relationship between them was not simple. Although Tian Liang was not her own son, she always treated him well. Because of the mistake in the past, making his mother died, she was still regretting until now. However, she knew that no one, especially Tian Liang, could understand what she was feeling and he might never forgive her for what she had done. She could only love him as her son, but let him with Hou Lei was not something she could accept, because she, on the other hand, always wanted the best for her only true son, Tian Liam.

After having dinner in Hou Lei’s room, the Queen walked back to her room. Tian Liang tidied the room for her and brought the tray of dishes back to the kitchen. He returned with a towel and a basin of warm water, he helped her clean her face and her hands before going to bed. He sat down on a chair next to the bed and waited for her till the time he assured that she got a deep sleep. He walked out of the room and closed the door lightly. Then he got into the room of the maid next to Hou Lei’s room and slept in there as he said with her in the morning.

The next day came, and Tian Liang got up very early, he asked the chefs to prepare the breakfast for her and brought a basin of water put on the table. Everything was ready and waiting for her to wake up. She was surprised by what he did for her. And she knew that he truly wanted to do that, because he had let her know about his true identity. But now, she was more confused with the things happening around her. She loved Tian Liam and Tian Liang also loved her from the teenage period till now. Everything became complex when she knew that her brother-in-law was her first love.

When Tian Liang was having breakfast with Hou Lei, Tian Liam walked to her room and saw the scene. He planned to avoid seeing her, but he thought that he should do something before losing her to his own brother’s hands.

-Hou Lei, can I talk to you for a while? – Tian Liam got into the room.

-Oh, I’ve just finished my breakfast. – She replied. – Tian Liang, can…

-I understand. – Tian Liang stood up. – I have some works to do in the government today. You two have plenty of time to talk with each other.

He said and tidied the dishes on the table. He brought the tray of dishes and walked out of the room. He stopped right next to Tian Liang and said to his ear.

“You better take care of your wife well, Mother was not happy to see what happened yesterday. And you should also be a good Tian Liam as you used to. If I and mother know you do something bad to Hou Lei, you will know the results.”

When Tian Liang walked out of the room, Tian Liam closed the door carefully before sitting down on a chair next to her. She avoided his look, he held her hands and rubbed gently.

-I’m sorry about what happened yesterday. – He said.

-I forgot that, what are you talking about? – She wondered.

-I… I… however, sorry, I promise that I will never do that again without your permission.

-I said I don’t want to remember.

-Okay, okay, I won’t remind you about that anymore.

-That’s the reason you’re here this morning?

-Nope, I want to check if you’re okay before going to work. I know that I was not good at the previous days. I will change, and be your good husband.

-Well, is that you forgot about my words?

-Your words? Am I saying anything wrong?

-Never mind. – She stood up and took her hand back from his hands. – You should go to work, or you will be late for the important works.

-Okay, I’ll go first, take care of your self.

He walked out of the room. She sat back to the chair and looked at his figure fading behind the entrance to her room. She still felt that there was something not right with him, but she could not determine what it was. She walked to the garden next to her room and watering the flowers. When she came back, she saw Wu's magical book was on her table.

“The Wu magical book, it’s you again, what is your purpose to appear this time?”, she recognized the book and walked closer to the table. Suddenly, the book opened many pages by itself, Hou Lei raised her hand to cover her eyes thinking that the book would make something harm to her like the previous times. However, nothing happened, the book stopped at a page. She walked closer and took the book on and read the information on the page.

“The perfect shape-shift…”, the page’s title.

“What is this about? Looking very strange!”, she wondered and continued reading.

“The perfect shape-shift is a kind of powerful magic, carried out with a ritual by many Wu priests who have strong magic and good knowledge about the magical world. The ritual must be carried out with the one who wants to copy and the one who is copied. The magic ritual will help to transfer the figure from inside to outside from the original one to his duplicate. Moreover, if the priests are strong enough, they can help the duplicate to have the memory and some characteristics of the original. This is a kind of big ritual and it should be carried out under a suitable time calculated by the moving of the moon and stars. The ones who take part in the ritual will somehow pay for their bad actions. From the past till now, rarely rituals are successful with the memory copied.”

-Is that this book is aiming to something about Tian Liam? The perfect copy? – She got confused about the information. – I should read all the information.

She continued to read the book. “There are some kinds of treats to help reveal if someone is using this ritual to copy another’s face to take over their life, their love, or their property. The most common one is using the magical mirror. To make this mirror, chanting this spell to a mirror and put some magic in it. The magical effect will last for 4 hours and cannot be reused in the same mirror or the same person who uses the spell for three days.”

-Look like it’s worth a try. – She said to herself. – But is there something to help to break the ritual and reveal the identity of the copycat?

She focused on the page again. “There is the only way to break the spell of the ritual. That is using the more powerful spell from some priests to break down the previous one on the one getting the perfect shapeshift. The spell needs to be carried out into a medicine tablet made by the herbs listed on the next page. And there should be a lot of magic put into the medicine. Then, you should put the medicine into the food of that one. When he takes the medicine, his perfect shapeshift shield will be broken and his true identity will be revealed easily.”

She read the list of herbs and took notes into a paper. She closed the book and not out of her prediction, the book disappeared immediately. She thought that maybe Er Wang had taken place the ritual to be the present “Tian Liam”. That was the reason why she could not find the signal of Er Wang some night before. It was a suitable explanation that at that time, Er Wang was not Er Wang anymore, he was Tian Liam, so that, her magic could not reach his place. But her magic was not enough to make something like the “magical mirror” as the book mentioned, the power of the magical shield in the palace was somehow very strong after the day she had carried out her big ritual. She needed help from her mother and Miang Xiang. She should be in a hurry, because if Er Wang was now replacing Tian Liam, where was the real Tian Liam? He might be still kidnapped in the village of the Er tribe and she could not imagine what was happening to him now. She took the list of medicine with her and thought about a reason to get out of the palace and meet Miang Xiang.
